5-Day Bible Reading Plan and Devotional Guide
Based on the Letter to the Church at Pergamos — Revelation 2:12-17

Day 1: The Authority of the Word
**Reading:** Hebrews 4:12 and Psalm 119:105

**Devotional:**
The letter to Pergamos opens with a striking image — Christ presenting Himself as the one who holds the sharp two-edged sword. This is not a symbol of violence but of authority. The Word of God is the standard by which every life, every decision, and every doctrine is measured. In a world that constantly offers competing voices and shifting standards, the believer is not left without direction. God's Word is not merely a suggestion — it is a reliable guide. The question is not whether the Word is sufficient. The question is whether you are willing to submit to its authority daily.

**Reflection:** In what areas of your life have you been relying on your own reasoning rather than the clear direction of Scripture?

**Application:** Identify one decision you are currently facing. Before making a move, search the Word intentionally for guidance and commit to following what it reveals.

Day 2: Faithfulness in Hard Places
**Reading:** Revelation 2:13 and Romans 8:35-39

**Devotional:**
The church at Pergamos was not living in comfort. They were surrounded by the seat of imperial power, the worship of false gods, and the ever-present threat of persecution. Antipas had already been killed for his faith. Yet Christ acknowledged their endurance — they held fast to His name and did not deny the faith. Faithfulness is not tested in easy seasons. It is forged in the hard places, in the moments where the cost of belief becomes undeniably real. God does not overlook what you endure in His name. He sees where you dwell, and He meets you there.

**Reflection:** What hard place are you currently standing in, and how has your faith held up under the pressure of that environment?

**Application:** Write down one way you have remained faithful in a difficult circumstance. Offer it to God in prayer as an act of gratitude, and ask Him to sustain your faithfulness going forward.

Day 3: The Danger of Compromise
**Reading:** Proverbs 16:25 and 1 Corinthians 10:12-13

**Devotional:**
The doctrine of Balaam represents one of the most subtle dangers a believer can face — the slow erosion of conviction through cultural accommodation. The church at Pergamos was not overtly rejecting Christ. They were simply allowing the surrounding culture to define what was acceptable, blending truth with error until the line between holy and common became difficult to see. Proverbs 16:25 reminds us that a path can feel entirely reasonable and still lead to destruction. Just because something seems practical or culturally acceptable does not make it aligned with the will of God. Compromise rarely announces itself loudly. It creeps in quietly.

**Reflection:** Are there areas in your life where cultural norms have gradually replaced biblical convictions without you fully recognizing the shift?

**Application:** Examine one habit, relationship, or pattern of thinking that you have justified based on what feels normal rather than what the Word affirms. Bring it honestly before God in prayer.

Day 4: The Call to Repentance and the Promise of Restoration
**Reading:** Revelation 2:16-17 and 1 John 1:9

**Devotional:**
Christ does not leave the church at Pergamos without a path forward. His call is direct — repent. Repentance is not a punishment. It is an invitation. It is the doorway through which the compromised believer walks back into covenant faithfulness. And what awaits on the other side of that repentance is remarkable — hidden manna, a white stone, and a new name. These are images of preservation, acquittal, and renewed identity. God does not call you to repentance to shame you. He calls you to repentance so that your failure does not become your final word. Repentance gives you a testimony.

**Reflection:** Is there an area of your life where you have been resistant to repentance because you fear what it will cost you rather than trusting what it will restore in you?

**Application:** Come before God today in honest repentance over one specific area. Receive the promise of 1 John 1:9 — that He is faithful and just to forgive and to cleanse — and allow that truth to move you forward rather than keep you bound to your past.

Day 5: Overcoming and Walking in Your Identity
**Reading:** Revelation 2:17 and 2 Corinthians 5:17

**Devotional:**
The promise given to the overcomer in Pergamos is deeply personal. A new name, written on a white stone, known only to the one who receives it. This is not a generic reward handed out to a crowd. It is an intimate declaration from God over an individual life. When you walk in repentance, faithfulness, and steadfast allegiance to Christ, He does not simply restore what was lost — He renews who you are. Your identity is not defined by your compromise, your suffering, or the hard place where you have dwelt. Your identity is written by the hand of the risen Lord who overcame on your behalf.

**Reflection:** How have past failures or the weight of difficult seasons shaped the way you see yourself? Does that view align with the identity God declares over you?

**Application:** Spend time today meditating on what it means to be a new creation in Christ. Write down three truths about your identity in Him and return to them each morning this week as a declaration against any voice that tells you otherwise.
